Where Will My Therapeutic Massage session take place?
Your massage session will take place in a comfortable, quiet, private room. Soft music will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a comfortable custom built massage table.
Who will perform my massage?
Your session will be conducted by a highly trained professional who has received proper training in a variety of techniques, is licensed by the State of Florida, and is a Nationally Certified massage Therapist.
Must I be completely undressed for my massage?
Most techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort.
Will the therapist be present when I disrobe?
No. The therapist will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean fresh sheet.
Will I be covered during the massage?
Yes. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and your therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your massage session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body massage will include work on your neck, shoulders, arms, legs, feet and back. You will not be touched on or near your genitals or breast.
Will lubricant be used during the massage?
A light oil, or lotion will be used to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing excess friction to the skin. The lubricants used should hydrate the skin and be readily absorbed.
What will the massage feel like?
It depends on the technique being used. In general Swedish Massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes which will help to calm the nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. You should communicate immediately to the therapist if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage is most effective when your body is not resisting.
Are there different kinds Of therapeutic massage?
There are numerous types of massage. Various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement reeducation, application of pressure to specific points, etc. Ask your therapist about the methods he or she uses
How long will the massage session last?
Most basic full body massage sessions last approximately one hour. Our basic session last an hour and a quarter. A half hour session only allows enough time for a partial massage, such as neck and shoulders. We’ve found that most people prefer the longer session of an hour and a quarter, or an hour and a half for optimal relaxation. And we allow enough time between sessions that you never have to hurry. Always allow relaxation time before and after a massage. Hot tub baths after the massage can assist the process
What should I do during the massage session?
Make yourself comfortable. The therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Others like to talk during the session. Feel free to ask the therapist questions about massage, or just relax.
How will I feel after a massage?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, hightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.
What are the benefits of massage therapy?
Massage can help release chronic tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical stress, promote faster healing, promote lymph drainage, improve posture, reduce blood pressure, boost the immune system, and more
Are there any medical conditions that could make massage therapy inadvisable?.
Yes, there are some. Before you begin a session, the therapist will ask some general health questions to determine if there is any reason the massage should not be performed.
